From simple yet inspiring designs to the most sophisticated E-commerce enabled sites, Xor creates web sites that separate you from the crowd.
We have experience of Internet development, with proven knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, Java and applet development. We also have experience of marketing and graphics design to be able to provide a complete solution.
A company web site has to reflect the company image and be part of an overall marketing approach. It must provide a unified and integrated image of the company and its products. In some of our projects, the design of the web site has lead the way for a general update of the marketing image; in other cases, we have added a web site to an existing marketing portfolio.
The following are a few examples from the broad range of projects we have tackled. Some are surprisingly different, as the use of a graphically rich environment, full multimedia and a simple point and click interface means that a lot can be achieved.
Wind turbines from Aeolus Power
This web site is for a company selling wind turbines to small companies, schools, community centres and those home owners with sufficiently large gardens. There is a wealth of information on installing and running turbines, and there is a database available to calculate the available wind power at a given site.
We redesigned the site in 2010 with the addition of a map showing all the installed turbines and included a Twitter feed to allow the company to simply update their own home page.
Carter Wright
This web site acts as a catalogue of antique clocks for a local business. The owners wanted a very clean and minimalist design without too much screen clutter. The site is particularly strong on images of the clocks because it is important for the site visitors to see as much detail as possible. All the images can be viewed in a large size.
Fossil Decor
This company uses fossils and minerals as a means of providing beautiful objects to enhance the interior decor of beautiful houses. The images used are extremely important
to show the beauty of the pieces. We also provided examples of how fossils and minerals can be used in interior design, in a range of different styles, even in a contemporary design.
The fossils and minerals are stunning pieces, from a perspective of their beauty and colour. But what is equally stunning is the age of the pieces. They can be millions of years old and there is clear attraction in using such ancient pieces as focal points in a room.
Maison Chaplais
We provided the design of an ecommerce web site for a Cheltenham based delicatessen, which involving shooting and preparing images for all the products. Maison Chaplais is a wonderland for food, all chosen by the expert eye of Maurice Chaplais. Maurice is a passionate advocate of artisan bread. Examples of his work can also be seen at Chaplais.com which is a site we improved and maintain.
Maison Chaplais's web site was designed in a very minimalistic way, as requested by Maurice and we think is a huge success. We also provided the logo and some of the exterior work on the premises.
Hydegate Pet Resort
This web site is for a local company who specialise in an upmarket dog kennels and cattery; the emphasis is on providing a holiday for pets. They provide luxury accommodation and also provide a range of other services, such as grooming.
We provided the web site and marketing expertise, including design of a logo and signage around the buildings.
Amberley Bakery holiday cottages
We designed this web site for a local holiday cottages. Previously the building had been the local bakery and this has been tastefully converted into two holiday cottages available to let. This site uses a large number of images
of the surrounding countryside, especially Minchinhampton Common and revels in the glorious photography.
Dartmoor and Princetown
This web site describes the history of Dartmoor, in terms of the geology of the area. There is a second web site that tells the story of Princetown and Dartmoor prison. The project was originally an Hypercard application, running on Apple Macintosh computers. We ported the application to use HTML and JavaScript and managed to replicate the full functionality of the original. We also provided full Internet access to the visitor's centre hosting these sites.
Our sister company, Xor Systems, provided the beautiful flat screen displays that display this web site and they are some of the most attractive screens we have seen.
The screens were designed to blend in well with the surrounding exhibits and contain natural materials such as granite, glass and wood.
Graphics design from Steam Design
We have recently completed the design of a web site for a local company workings in graphics design, specialising in the area of corporate identity. They produce brochures, logos, annual reports etc. for a wide range of companies. Xor provided a web site to act as a portfolio of the company's expertise.
This site is changed at frequent intervals, as the company produces a large number of photographic images.
Paths, patios and driveways from Avon Cobblestone
We provided a web site to promote this company's range of cobbled concrete products. The site was designed to match their existing brochure and used many of the images, with further images taken specifically for the site. The site is promoted heavily through local directory services.
Electronics design
We provided a web site to promote this company's range of electronics products.
Puppeteer
We worked with this company writing embedded software for their unique range of embedded computers. They asked us to design a web site to help promote the product and to provide technical support. This site has a strong emphasis on showing how and where the product has been used, so we have an ongoing relationship to add more projects as they are completed.
Wine Web site design
We have designed a web site to sell wine over the Internet. The novelty in this site is the ability to readily update the online catalogue of wines available. This was kept simple to enable the owners of the site to change the wines on offer quickly and easily. We went for a particularly graphical look, which we were very pleased with. The client was using competitive bidding and, in the end, rejected our design - but we like it, so we include it here.
